The IXth edition of Young Geometric Group Theory (YGGT) will take place on February 24–28, 2020 in Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, France.
The workshop intentionally focusses on only four main speakers giving a 4-hour mini-course each. Their lectures are supposed to present a panoramic overview over some important developments in their field with the goal to enable the participants to actively participate in the new directions of research emerging from these developments. Special time slots will be reserved for active discussions of the participants under the moderation of the main speakers.
Besides the four main lecture series a number of shorter presentations are organized. The goal of these presentations is different: they try to make the participants aware of recent developments in geometric group theory, which are not covered by the main lectures. This is to broaden the scope of the workshop, and to encourage the participants to explore the boundaries of the subject.
The conference will take place in a former abbey. Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer is a small village located in Brittany, France. The former abbey is located directly on the coast. A hiking trail along the sea starts next to the abbey’s garden, for those you want to enjoy the fresh air, continue thinking about math, or simply admire the view.
We want to organize friendly human-sized event, and make sure that the senior speakers are available for everyone. So the number of participants will be limited to 120.
